“The watch for my aunt Lupe’s wall”

Growing up the church shaped me whiteout me even being conscious about it it was just something that was always there. The symbolism in Catholicism is so beautiful to me, it was everywhere I went. This piece talks specifically about my Tia Lupe who was one of the most special persons in our family. Among the things that made her so special she had huge collection - a wall where she hung all of her "virgencitas".

She passed away a couple of years now and her collection was donated to this church in Tlaxcala and some separated across family members.

Inside the watch face there is a Lady of Guadalupe with other little decorations to play an homage to her. This brooch is a very sentimental piece capturing that moment in my childhood where I would stand in front of this wall looking at all of the virgencitas. She will forever have an influence in the way I do life and I hope that with this piece you can get to know a little bit of her story.

This piece was developed during a workshop with Georgina Treviño her incredible approach to creativity was and continues to be influential for me and my peers that took her class - I would encourage you to check out her work
